Seeking a high-impact Agile leader, with a technical background, experienced in leading organizational change; developing high performing, self-directed, co-located teams; leading development and operational technical projects; and managing stakeholder relationships at the executive level. This senior manager will be responsible for leading a global IT organization within the CIO, supporting the Global Business Services application portfolio. This role presents an unique opportunity to lead the continuing cultural adoption of Agile principles and values and provides the opportunity to implement creative, strong business and technical vision. Experience with Global Business Services is desired.

This leadership role will be based in one of the CIO’s Agile Centers (North Castle, NY; Raleigh, NC, or Austin, TX), with some travel required. Key responsibilities will include:

Leading organizational change and coaching in best practices in continuous delivery and DevOps

Driving teams to accelerate the Agile Operating Model while enabling small, high-performing, self-directed teams to accelerate productivity, skills building and innovation

Driving the transformation of first line managers into servant leaders and improving technical capabilities for squad members

Managing the long-term organizational health, including positive career rotations of team members; keeping skills updated; and encouraging innovation

Evangelizing the tools and processes that enable software development; recognizing opportunities to improve development and delivery through better tools, automation and process improvements; and driving integration of IBM’s cognitive solutions and Cloud adoption for current portfolio

Managing the end-to-end development, operations, finances and business controls posture for a large application portfolio of over 85 GBS applications, as well as optimizing the portfolio to support a global strategic direction

Directing a large team of geographically-distributed leaders and practitioners (over 350 staff) who manage complex, global applications and systems, while driving the introduction of advanced software engineering practices (continuous integration and delivery), with cultural sensitivity to different time zones and different approaches to work/life balance

Collaborating with GBS partners to drive a global strategy to replace legacy applications with strategic tools

Maintaining strong positive relationships with executive business stakeholders, product owners, peers and cross-functional support teams

Partnering and building trust with Executive business stakeholders to drive business solutions, integrating NPS as part of a customer advocacy process and continually looking for ways to improve the user experience

Excellent global communication and relationship management skills

Driving standards and creative metrics to measure what matters to drive team measurement of activities for continuous organizational and individual development

Driving efficiencies, team building and collaboration by continuing to drive co-location of staff across the organization

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Demonstrated experience in software development, delivery and operations

Proven track record in building and leading high performing development and operations teams and leading individual staff and teams through periods of significant organizational change

Experience with Agile methodology and DevOps practices

Experience in leading a global organization, with highly distributed teams

Demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of a successful organization, including resources, career planning, skills development, budget, delivery, support, stakeholder relationships and leading through organizational change

Experience in creating and delivering strategic application architectures with emphasis on removing legacy applications and transitioning to new technologies and platforms.

Ability to thrive in an open, dynamic, flexible, collaborative environment with a desire to explore, learn and implement new technologies, i.e. Analytics, AI, Blockchain, etc.
